Quazal, makers of the Net-Z and Rendez-Vous online multiplayer middleware, and Eidos Interactive, a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment content, announced that the upcoming
Commandos Strike Force will be powered by Quazal technology to provide online multiplayer gaming.
Commandos Strike Force, which is in development for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC, according to its official site, is the fourth game in the
Commandos series developed by Pyro Studios. With
Strike Force, the series has received a major overhaul and is now an FPS, while still retaining the basic
Commandos concepts. With online play powered by Quazal’s Net-Z and lobby services provided through Quazal Rendez-Vous,
Commandos Strike Force will feature a number of original online play modes.
The Net-Z technology used in
Commandos Strike Force allows Pyro Studios to focus their efforts on building gameplay, rather than dealing with low-level networking, while Rendez-Vous gives Eidos an online solution as Quazal handles all hosting duties and other issues of online game development such as NAT traversal.
