Following months of fan speculation, Eidos Montreal confirmed today that it is working on Thief 4, the latest entry in the well-regarded stealth franchise. "We’re in the early development stages for Thief 4, but this is an incredibly ambitious and exciting project for Eidos," says general manager Stephane D’Astous. D'Astous says it's "too early for us to offer any specific game details," and that Eidos Montreal is currently focused on adding to the development staff, which already comprises the studio's "best core team." Eidos Montreal is also currently developing Deus Ex 3. Venerated Looking Glass Studios developed the series' first two Thief installments, The Dark Project and The Metal Age in 1998 and 2000, respectively. The third title, Deadly Shadows was released in 2004, and was developed at Ion Storm with the support of Looking Glass veterans who migrated there after the studio closed.
