Electronic Arts CFO Warren Jenson has warned that many publishers and developers could go out of business this winter as shops devote less and less space to niche titles. According to Jenson, “The holiday season this year should be as competitive for video game makers as it was last year, with struggling players likely to be pushed aside”.
Speaking at a Bank of America conference in San Francisco Jenson added, “There’s going to be some road kill. There are going to be people who aren't going to make it.”
Jenson also commented on the disagreement between EA and Microsoft over the Xbox Live service, saying: “We're not about to support a model where the content provider does not get paid for the content provided.”
