EA Snares "Superman" License

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Comics announced today that Electronic Arts has been awarded the worldwide interactive rights to develop, publish and distribute games using the Superman license, across all platforms.
Financial terms of the deal with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Comics were not disclosed. Under the multi-year agreement, EA will publish games based on the upcoming "Superman" feature film from Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as any subsequent "Superman" films distributed during the term of the agreement. The film, which will reportedly come out next year, has been plagued by casting problems, and currently has not settled upon an actor for the lead role. In addition, this spring, the project's director, Brett Ratner, left. So EA might not be able to capitalize on the film as soon as it had hoped. Fortunately, however, the license also grants EA has the rights to produce games based on "Superman" comics and animated television programs, which looks more promising in the short term.
