EA Proclaims The Sims the Best-Selling PC Game of All Time

EA announced today that the company has now shipped more than 6.3 million copies of The Sims, surpassing sales of Myst, which previously held the distinction of being the best-selling PC game of all time.
The Sims achieved this milestone slightly more than two years since its initial release in February 2000. The game was the best selling PC game in both 2000 and 2001, and has spawned four expansion packs. The Sims creator Will Wright will be presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sonic Team’s Yuji Naka tonight at the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony at the Game Developers Conference. Wright was the recipient of the 2001 Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the International Game Developers Association. Wright was also inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' Hall of Fame last month.
