EA has announced that July 17th will bring both a free downloadable and $10 retail version of the Creature Editor behind its highly anticipated sim-game Spore, ahead of the full game's September 7th U.S. launch.
EA has announced that July 17th will bring both a free downloadable and $10 retail version of the Creature Editor behind its highly anticipated sim-game Spore. The free demo version will be available worldwide for users to download from the “God game’s” official site, and will also be included in The SimCity Box retail collection due June 23rd. Players of the downloadable version will be able to shape, paint, and play with an unlimited number of creatures, using 25% of the creature-making parts from the complete version of Spore. The creature editor will also include tools to share creations with others, including seamless uploads of YouTube videos. The complete retail release will allow access to all of the creature making-parts in Spore. Gamers will be able to purchase the full Spore Creature Creator for $9.99 in North America and €9.99 in most European countries. All creatures designed with the Spore Creature Creator free demo and retail release can be imported into the full PC and Mac versions of Spore when the game launches on September 7, 2008 in North America and September 5, 2008 in Europe. "We are thrilled to finally be putting the creative tools of Spore into the hands of players around the world," said chief designer Will Wright. "The amazing creations players design this summer will help populate the game universe we all enter when Spore ships this September, so in a sense, the Spore Creature Creator is the birth of Spore."
