Electronic Arts is entering the 99-cent iPhone game space with the launch of a new subsidiary, 8lb Gorilla, according to new media reports.
Although EA already releases premium iPhone games of some of its major properties like
The Sims 3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour and
Need For Speed Undercover, the new developer will focus solely on the App Store's most popular price point.
Revealed
in comments to iPhone website Touch Arcade, 8lb Gorilla will reportedly release "bite-sized" games on an approximate monthly basis, provided the App Store submission process goes on schedule.
The first of these is
Zombies & Me, a zombie apocalypse title where the player must protect a house-bound grandma from an onslaught of the shambling undead.
Simplicity appears to be the focus for the new developer's titles; 8lb Gorilla reportedly claims playtesters for
Zombies & Me all had the gameplay pinned down within five to 10 minutes.
