EA: Criterion Developing 'Online-Centric' Need For Speed, DICE Doing Battlefield 3

EA COO John Pleasants says Criterion is working on an unannounced "online-centric" Need For Speed game -- and DICE is developing Battlefield 3, it was revealed at an investor conference today.
Electronic Arts has tasked Criterion Games with an unannounced Need For Speed title, COO John Pleasants revealed today. "We've taken the Burnout team and combined it with our Need For Speed franchise," said Pleasant, according to G4's news report on the William Blair Growth Stock Conference. "So we now have that in our favor, because that Burnout team is probably one of the more online-centric and notably high-quality game developers that we have out at Criterion." Electronic Arts has stated numerous times in recent months that an increased focus on online content is a key part of its strategy. According to the report, Pleasants also let slip that Sweden's DICE team is working on Battlefield 3, despite having rolled out three titles in the franchise -- Heroes, Bad Company and 1943 -- in recent succession.
