Major publisher and developer Electronic Arts has confirmed its significant support for Sony's upcoming PlayStation 3 console by announcing that the company has more than 30 games in development for the next-gen platform. Adding to this, the company also confirmed that it will release between eight to ten games for the PlayStation 3 by late March, including Fight Night Round 3 and Def Jam: ICON. Other titles currently in development by Electronic Arts for Sony's console include Army of Two, Burnout 5, Battlefield: Bad Company, Madden NFL 07, Medal of Honor Airborne, NBA Street, Need for Speed Carbon, Skate, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07. In addition to its support of the PlayStation 3, Electronic Arts has become a staunch supporter of each of the next-generation consoles, including the already established Xbox 360 and the forthcoming Wii from Nintendo. In July the company announced a strong lineup of titles in development for the Wii, including six "custom-designed titles" from franchises such as Madden NFL, Need for Speed, Harry Potter, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, SSX and The Godfather. “This is a very exciting time for gamers. EA’s games on the PlayStation 3 will help propel HD forward,” commented Frank Gibeau, EA's executive vice president of North America publishing. “Over the course of the next 18 months, EA will roll out groundbreaking new original properties and spectacular new versions of perennial hits that will further maximize the power of the PlayStation 3’s unique cell processor and outstanding Blu-ray disk capacity.”
