After bringing its casual brand of gaming to the Xbox Live Arcade with Boom Boom Rocket, EA subsidiary Pogo has announced that five of its titles will be collected for release on the Nintendo DS. Representatives from Electronic Arts have announced Pogo Island, a collection of five of the most popular games from its Pogo.com casual subsidiary site, for a DS release on March 26th. Electronic Arts promises the title offers an "easy to learn but challenging to master level of enjoyment" across the five puzzle, solitaire, and word games, which include Word Whomp, Poppit!, Phlinx, Tri-Peaks Solitaire and Squelchies, each skinned with a 'playful island theme.' EA also notes that Pogo Island offers a similar token system as its web-originals, which can be collected simply for peer 'bragging rights,' or, using the DS' WiFi Connection, displayed online at Pogo.com through your Pogo account. Says Pogo Island producer Kevin Chorney, "Millions of people have been captivated by these simple, yet addictive casual games. We’re so excited to finally bring the online experience to players on the go." He added, "Whether you are playing with the kids on a road trip or just killing time while waiting in line, Pogo Island takes your mind off work, stress and the craziness of everyday life. Now, people young and old can enjoy some brain-busting fun wherever they are, whenever they want.”
