Electronic Arts CEO Larry Probst has indicated that the company plans to record as much as $1 billion in sales in Asia by 2010. Despite dominance in the West, the company has very little presence in Japan and other Asian territories and made only $168 million sales there last year – from a global total of $3 billion. The increase in sales is expected to come primarily from online game distribution, through Internet cafes that would download the games and charge players to play on PCs. Mobile gaming is also seen as an important growth market with the company predicting sales will grow 15% in the financial year ending March 31, 2005 – although this figure is lower than last year’s increase of 19%.
