Disney Interactive Studios has announced that it has acquired Warren Spector's Austin, TX based Junction Point Studios, which will create franchises both new and based on Disney properties. No specific titles have yet been announced, with Disney only saying that Junction Point is working on a "next-generation development project." As "a lifelong Disney fan," said the Disney release, "Spector recognizes the opportunity to overlay Disney content and resources on top of exceptional game design to create unique experiences for players." In May it was announced that Spector, best known for creating the Deus Ex series, among others, was teaming up with director John Woo to create a new Spector-originated video game and film property called Ninja Gold. Said Disney Interactive executive VP Graham Hopper, “Warren Spector’s unique talents as a leading creative force in the world of video games, his knowledge and passion for Disney, and his legacy of story telling and character development adds a unique creative dimension to our portfolio. Our shared visions on creativity, innovation and storytelling will allow us to touch individual players in ways never before possible.” Spector added, "“I believe that the creative talents of our two companies and our shared ambition to bring distinctive, compelling experiences to gamers make this an ideal alliance. We look forward to bringing exciting, innovative and entertaining new experiences to gamers and Disney fans alike.”
