Market research firm Media Create has revealed data for weekly hardware sales in Japan for the week ending June 10th, following
details of the software top thirty yesterday.
In keeping with the slightly depressed level of software sales, hardware sales have also remained below the normal weekly average, and are generally down on the previous week.
Nonetheless, Nintendo DS sales were down almost 6,000 units to a still impressive 117,228 and the Wii was down over 5,000 units to a second-placed 64,529.
Although both Nintendo consoles are still supply-constrained, most formats saw a decrease on the previous week sales, with no major software releases to stimulate the market. The PSP saw sales drop by around 1,500 units to 24,711, while PlayStation 2 sales dropped by around 700 units to 11,097.
It is now over a month since any PlayStation 3 title has appeared in the software top fifty, with hardware sales falling by over 200 to 8,776 units. Although the Xbox 360 also has no titles in the top fifty this week, its sales were up by over 300 to 2,533. The Game Boy Advance family of consoles saw sales rise by over 200 units to 799, while the GameCube dropped by 59 to 167 units.
