Sales of the three-model Nintendo DS line of hardware declined slightly week-over-week in Japan, but still managed to lead sales charts following a June price cut, Media Create revealed Friday. The Nintendo DS line -- which includes the DSi LL, DSi and DS Lite -- sold 47,097 units for the week ended July 18, down from 51,264 the prior week. Nintendo DS sales peaked during a week in June to 64,000 units following a price cut in the territory. Nintendo is trying to maintain sales momentum of current DS models now that the game maker unveiled the 3DS, which Nintendo said will launch before the end of the company's fiscal year in March 2011. The PSP followed with the second-best sales for the week at 27,941 units -- that includes 26,786 units of the UMD disc-based PSP and 1,155 units of the digital download-only PSP Go. On an individual platform basis, the original PSP had the best-selling hardware during the week with 26,786 units sold, besting the DSi LL's 25,884 units for the week.
