In anticipation of classic sci-fi film Tron's 25th anniversary, Disney Interactive Studios has announced that this summer will see the release of Xbox Live Arcade remakes of its arcade hits Tron and Discs of Tron. In development by Backbone Charlottetown, the same studio that brought Konami's PlayStation original Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to the Live Arcade, both games, as with most arcade remakes will feature updated graphics and sound modes, as well as online multiplayer. The original 1982 Tron featured four different games, including the film's now iconic light cycle battle, as well as a tank battle, grid bug extermination, and MCP cone attack. Its 1983 follow-up, Discs of Tron featured a one-on-one energy disc battle against Sark, the defender of Master Control Program, in one-on-one battles taking place in three-dimensional futuristic arenas. Said Disney Interactive VP of marketing Craig Relyea, "The Tron film has captured the imaginations of video game players and film fans for generations with its ground-breaking visuals and action-filled story. The classic arcade games Tron and Discs of Tron are returning this summer through Xbox Live Arcade with new features and options for the film's 25th anniversary."
