Disney confirmed today it has shuttered Vancouver-based
Turok reboot developer Propaganda Games, following the release of the studio's
Tron: Evolution tie-in game in December.
The studio's work on a planned Pirates of the Caribbean-based action-RPG,
Armada of the Damned was
halted last October, and one of the studio's two development teams was closed in the process.
After the cancellation, the remainder of the studio finished work on
Tron: Evolution, which failed to make much of a critical or sales impression on the market.
Disney confirmed to Gamasutra that "the studio has completed all work associated with its most recent project," leaving up in the air recently-announced plans for further
Tron: Evolution downloadable content.
Propaganda's only other completed project was a 2008 reboot of the
Turok series for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Disney Interactive saw its fiscal year losses
shrink 21 percent after its
$763 million purchase of social game maker Playdom last July.
Company president Steve Wadsworth
resigned his position last September after 11 years with the company,
to be replaced by current co-presidents James Pitaro and Playdom CEO John Pleasants.
