Digital Interactive Systems Corp, or DISCover, has announced the launch of Games2Drive.com, a platform for its Hardcore White-Label Gaming System, otherwise known as HAWGS. Using HAWGS, Games2Drive will provide digital downloads of "hardcore video games" directly to a user's PC, and hopes to attract a community of hardcore gamers with social networking tools that will, the company says, "encourage them to play and participate in gamer activities." DISCover claims the HAWGS system will let the company customize its Games2Drive.com platform to suit the needs of its retailer affiliates, allowing them to provide downloads to customers within 10 days from sign-up. Backing up this commitment, the company has also said it will waive all startup charges should affiliates not receive a full launch within that 10 days. Prior to launching Games2Drive, DISCover was to be the content platform provider for DVD hardware manufacturer's since-canceled ApeXtreme PC-based 'game console,' lending the system its DISCover technology, a game-recognition database that would have handled the work of installing and optimizing the PC games. Said DISCover CEO David Ferrigno, “Our goal is to assist retailers and advertisers in opening direct web download distribution channels to the important 14-39 year old male demographic. This is one of the most attractive market segments, yet one that has been most difficult to penetrate until now.”
