Dublin, Ireland-headquartered tools company DemonWare has announced that it will deliver some of the first officially sanctioned network middleware for Microsoft’s Xbox 360. The company revealed it has been working with Microsoft for the last six months on Xbox 360 development kits, in order to create a full solution for developers and publishers for networking and all technical aspects of online gameplay. DemonWare is best known for its Matchmaking+ and Netcode development suites. Current DemonWare technologies include peer-to-peer and client server support, NAT/Firewall traversal, voice communication, and the ability to integrate features at the beginning or end of software development. Tracey Frankcom, Program Manager of Xbox Tools and Middleware, said that his company is “convinced that the first Xbox 360 titles will set new standards in the online experience and DemonWare’s groundbreaking network middleware will play a big role in that.” Conversely, on the upcoming launch of the system, DemonWare’s CTO Sean Blanchfield anticipates that “studios will be able to get up and running fast and deliver even greater online experiences utilizing the power of this new console.”
