Dare to be Digital Announces Finalists, Reveals Adult Swim Award

"Dare to be Digital," a yearly game design competition for students organized by Abertay University in Scotland, has announced 2010's finalist entries, in addition to revealing a new award presented in collaboration with Turner Broadcasting.
"Dare to be Digital," a yearly game design competition for students organized by Abertay University in Scotland, has announced 2010's finalist entries. This year also marks the debut of a new Adult Swim award honoring creativity and unique gameplay, presented in collaboration with title sponsor Turner Broadcasting. The 2010 Dare to be Digital competition attracted entries from more than 80 universities worldwide. The final 15 entries, listed below with their respective development teams, were chosen by a panel of industry experts: - Abnormal Creations (The Inkwell Chronicles) - Angry Mango (Mush) - Bears With Jetpacks (Grrr!) - Creative Genius (Silent Symphony) - eleMENTAL (Weatherman) - Gazhab (Chayya) - Grimnir Games (Death Inc.) - King of Dice (Dice Rolling) - Ramblin' Wreckage (Milestone) - Shark on a bike (Dyed World) - Team Nevermind (WiiKick) - Team Tickle (Sculpty) - That Game Studio (Twang) - Bazooka Duck (The River That Binds) - Various Artists (Wee Knights) Finalists represent 15 different universities from six countries, and cover a variety of genres and platforms. Three finalist titles will be chosen for entry in the "Ones to Watch" category at the upcoming BAFTA Video Game Awards. The ultimate winner will receive a cash prize and the BAFTA award. Adult Swim's prize winner will be announced at a later date. "We are absolutely delighted to be working with Turner Broadcasting to make this year's Dare to be Digital even bigger and better," said Elaine Russell, Dare to be Digital project manager. "It is particularly exciting that they have confirmed their increased involvement just as we unveil what is certain to be the most ambitious line up of finalists we have ever had in Dare." Russell continues: "We congratulate the 75 talented students in our teams, who have made it through a very strict selection process. The students are already guaranteed a rich and rewarding experience through the mentoring they will receive from the UK's major developers and through the chance of sharing their knowledge and time with many other students from different parts of the world."
