D3Publisher is taking steps into publishing on the Nintendo 3DS with Art Co.'s Dream Trigger 3D -- and original title the company says will be just one of many 3DS titles it will publish in the future. The publisher, which also owns developer Vicious Cycle and its Vicious Engine tech, describes Dream Trigger 3D as an arcade shooter where players use sonar to reveal and blast enemies. "The introduction of the new Nintendo 3DS system will allow players to experience an arcade shooter with a whole new visual perspective never before seen on a handheld," says the company in its announcement. Yoji Takenaka, CEO for D3Publisher North America, says Dream Trigger will be "the first of many upcoming video games from D3Publisher for the Nintendo 3DS handheld system." The company has seen great success in the past on Nintendo's portables, best known for the Puzzle Quest brand. D3Publisher's DS lineup is primarily focused on licensed titles, however, such as games based on the Ben10 TV series and kid-friendly animated films like Coraline and Despicable Me. Dream Trigger 3D appears to be a key piece in the publisher's strategy to build a strong presence in a new handheld arena, beginning with an original title. The company did not announce an official date for Dream Trigger 3D nor whether it'd be part of the 3DS' launch lineup -- Nintendo's glasses-free 3D handheld launches February 2011 in Japan and in March in the U.S. and Europe.
