Initial information on the venue and speakers has been revealed regarding the 2006 D.I.C.E. Summit and 9th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards video game industry event, which is to be held in Las Vegas at the Green Valley Ranch hotel from February 8-10.
Several prominent speakers have already been booked for the D.I.C.E. Summit. Featured guests include Will Wright, creator of
The Sims and the upcoming
Spore; Peter Molyneux, developer of
Black and White 2 and upcoming
The Movies; David Jaffe, director of
God of War; Richard and Robert Garriott, creators of the
Ultima RPG series; Alec Bernstein, director of advanced communications for BMW; and Dale Herigstad, interface designer for the just-launched GameTap network.
New to the AIAS ceremony this year will be a red carpet treatment, celebrity hosts and presenters, and musical guests with songs featured in games. The ceremony will be held at the Henderson Pavilion in Las Vegas on the evening of February 9.
Earlier this year, 2005's AIAS awards
saw Valve Software's PC FPS
Half-Life 2 not only scooping the top award, but also eight others. Other notable winners were Bungie's top-selling
Halo 2, with four awards and Namco's
Katamari Damacy with two, including the Innovation in Console Gaming award. Trip Hawkins was also formally inducted in the AIAS hall of fame.
