The quarterly 10-Q filling for Electronics Arts has revealed that the company paid a price of $48 million for British developer Criterion. According to the filling the company was bought “for an approximate purchase price of $48 million, plus the assumption of outstanding stock options under certain stock option plans and certain liabilities due to Canon Europe." The sale caused consternation amongst developers since the purchase gave Electronic Arts complete control over the RenderWare middleware technology – although the company has indicated that it still intends to license the software to other developers.
