Following its
recent announcement that
Darwinia developers Introversion would be creating an amBX-enhanced version of its
DEFCON, Philips has announced that UK developer Codemasters has been added to the amBX partner list with an enhanced version of
TOCA Race Driver 3.
amBX, Philips' "ambient intelligence technology," is an integrated software engine, scripting language and hardware peripheral solution that adds additional light, color, sound, and tactile wind and rumble capabilities to a user's PC setup to further enhance the gaming experience. The Codemasters announcement marks the latest developer coming aboard with amBX, with THQ, Kuju Entertainment, Revolution Software and Sumo Digital, as well as Introversion, also promising enhanced versions of their own titles.
Under the new agreement, Codemasters will be delivering an amBX enhanced version of the latest in its motor sports series,
TOCA Race Driver 3, which will immerse players with amBX's wind generators and flashing LED lights as players pass through tree lines, tunnels, and landscapes.
Said Codemasters business development manager Peter Chan, "amBX is a really exciting prospect from a developer point of view, simply because it allows for an added field of creativity when making our games. The
TOCA series has been one of our most successful franchises to date and we feel the immersive effects offered by amBX will help us make this year's iteration the most memorable yet."
