Former Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios vice president Jamie Macdonald has joined Codemasters in the role of senior VP of production.
In his new position, he'll oversee the company’s production and engineering strategy and manage the studio operations -- Codemasters has studios in Birmingham, Guildford, Kuala Lumpur and in Warwickshire, UK.
"Joining a company with such a rich heritage as Codemasters is a real honor,” says Macdonald, who has over 15 years' experience managing studios. In his work with Sony oversaw franchises including
The Getaway, EyeToy:Play and
SingStar, along with PlayStation network service offerings for
SingStar and PlayStation Home. He has also been responsible for the groundbreaking PS3.
"This is an incredibly exciting time to become part of the Codemasters family, and I am relishing the opportunity to work across the company’s globally appealing content on multiple platforms while exploring new delivery methods and revenue models."
Macdonald joins the company at a time when it says it's looking to build leadership at its studios and plan its future portfolio on the back of its
recent investment from Reliance Big Entertainment.
"As the gaming landscape shifts, we are creating both a pipeline of world-class titles from our Studios and strengthening our production operation to exploit existing and future digital delivery channels," says brand senior vice president Barry Jafrato. "In creating this role and bringing Jamie on board, we add further focus to the production of that pipeline to benefit and complement the creative expertise of our Studio teams."
