City Interactive said Wednesday that its multiplatform first-person shooter
Sniper: Ghost Warrior has sold 1 million copies to consumers since its late June launch in the U.S. and Europe.
The game is currently available on Xbox 360 and PC, and City Interactive is preparing to launch a PlayStation 3 version.
Poland-headquartered City Interactive said
Sniper: Ghost Warrior is the company's "biggest production to date." The company was founded in 2002 and currently employs almost 150 workers.
City Interactive, a publisher and developer, has been working towards ramping up its in-house development operations. Recently the company
hired Stuart Black, formerly of Codemasters, as head of London-based game development for City Interactive.
The game maker also recently said it licensed Frankfurt, Germany-based Crytek's CryEngine 3 for two new, unannounced first-person shooter titles due to release over the "next couple of years."
A sequel to
Sniper: Ghost Warrior has been in development since early 2010, according to City Interactive. The game runs on CryEngine 3, and its expanding development team is collaborating with outsourcing studios to complete the title, according to the developer.
