Charles River Media, a specialty book publisher that is based in Hingham, Massachusetts, and publishes a large number of video game related book titles, including the noted Game Programming Gems series, has announced that it has been acquired by fellow, larger book publisher Thomson Delmar Learning.
Charles River, which has a backlist of about 200 titles, largely about video game development, will continue under its own name as a separate subsidiary of Thomson Delmar Learning, and more information on the move can be found at the new Delmar Learning website
dedicated to the Charles River imprint.
A comment on the official website explains: "Together Charles River Media and Thomson Learning have over 20 years experience publishing in current and emerging computer technologies. Charles River Media’s titles are a natural extension of the media arts design lists published by Thomson Delmar Learning and Thomson Course Technology."
In addition, Charles River founder and president Dave Pallai tells Publisher's Weekly that the newly acquired company's 10 employees will publish 60 titles this year, and plans to increase the amount of books published, going forward.
