Polish The Witcher developer and Good Old Games proprietor CD Projekt will officially become a publicly-traded company through its 50 percent acquisition of Polish technology company Optimus S.A.'s shares, confirming earlier media reports of a shift. After earlier reports of a "share swap" given by the company, CD Projekt has issued another statement on the change, which is now official. "The truth is that Optimus didn’t takeover us," a CD Projekt spokesperson claimed to UK trade site Develop. "We’ve gained control of Optimus by buying 50 per cent of their shares." "We are now controlling the Optimus company and we are able to enter the stock exchange," said the rep. The deal between CD Projekt holding company CDP Investment and Optimus is valued at 63 million zloty, or $22.6 million, according to the report. According to the company, it aimed at public listing to increase its access to capital and promote the company's growth. "The immediate financing we obtained through the deal will allow us to pursue our operational goals in troubled times," said CDP Investment stockholder Adam Kiciński. "We have gained all this while retaining control of the business, which was essential to us." He concluded: "Above all, we will become a publicly listed company, which denotes access to capital. That in turn will spur further company growth."
