Casual Site Announces Flash Game Contest

Jayisgames.com, a web site for casual games, has announced the fifth Casual Gameplay Design Competition. Submissions for the Flash-based casual game contest are due by March 3.
Jayisgames.com, a casual games web site, is seeking submissions to its fifth Casual Gameplay Design Competition, sponsored by Gimme5games. The contest calls for Flash-based games that embrace the theme of “upgrade,” a topic that can be interpreted however the contestants choose. The games need not be casual, though smaller games are encouraged due to the format and limited time frame for development -- eight weeks, as the deadline to submit is March 3. Any version of Flash since 6 can be used. Because the competition seeks games made in Flash, which are generally much smaller in scope and shorter in development time than other kinds of video games, the competition lends itself well to entries from game design students and other industry newcomers. Top game submissions could also be selected to appear on other platforms, and the first-place winner will take home $3,500 and a full professional-grade license for Adobe Flash CS3. Entries are due by March 3. Details of the contest can be found on the Jayisgames.com web site.
