The first Career Discovery event, "Career Discovery 1, Careers in the Game Industry," is scheduled to take place at the Interlake Performing Arts Theatre in Bellevue, Washington on March 24th. The day long event is focused on middle- and high-school students which will give them the opportunity to "interact face to face with speakers and sponsors to learn more about their career options." Key speakers for the inaugural games-industry event will include Hidden Path Entertainment's Michael Austin and Mark Terrano, Nelson Brown and Kevin Chung of Amaze Entertainment on 'The World of Animation and Art,' and Jess Lebow of Flying Lab Software. The event will also include DigiPen's Christopher Erhardt moderating Chris Taylor of Gas Powered Games, Robin Walker from Valve, and Zombie Studios' John Williamson in a panel entitled 'The Reality of Working in Game Development.' Said Raymond Yan, senior VP of operations at DigiPen, a gold sponsor of the event, "As a leader in game development education, DigiPen Institute of Technology is pleased to be a major sponsor of the Career Discovery event for students in our community to learn more about what it takes to work in this exciting yet challenging industry."
