The 2nd Annual Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts (CAEAA) has announced their call for submissions from video game companies for the 2007 Elans held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on November 2, 2007 at The Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts.
The evening is dedicated to to awarding largely Canadian and now international talent at the top of the burgeoning video game, animation, and digital art education industries.
For the game industry, the 2007 Elans have two international categories--“Outstanding Innovation in Gaming” (open to all companies including Canada) and “International Game of the Year." The categories now open to Canadian video game companies for the 2007 Elans are as follow: Game of the Year, Best Console Game, Best PC Game, Best New Video Game Company, Best Original Musical Score, Best Character, Best Art Direction, Best Handheld Game of the Year, Best Game Design of the Year, Best Mobile/Casual/Arcade Game of the Year, Best Writing for a Game Production, Video Game Hall of Fame, and Outstanding Innovation in Gaming.
Submissions for students studying in the area of digital arts opened March 4th and closes July 31st. Their categories relevant to game students include: Student Game of the Year, Best Original Sound Design/Musical Score for a Game, Best Student Art Direction in a Game Production, Best Student Writing for a Game Production, and the Ready to Rocket Award.
