Cable television and broadband provider Comcast is embracing video games in its entertainment services provider portfolio with a PC service, Games on Demand. The new offering comes on the heels of last month’s acquisition of TechTV, which on May 28 was merged with G4 (now G4techTV), a Comcast-owned game and gamer lifestyle TV network. For Games on Demand, subscribers pay $14.95 per month for unlimited play of more than 60 PC games covering various genres, including family, kids, educational, action, adventure, strategy, and simulation, for both single- and multi-player. In addition to gameplay, subscribers will receive parental control abilities, remote configuration and support, and the promise of new titles added to the repertory each month. The service is only available to Comcast High-Speed Internet customers. Game on Demand is currently available for a two-week free trial through Comcast’s online division, Comcast.net, in collaboration with Exent Technologies.
