Frank O’Connor, content manager for
Halo developer Bungie Studios has announced that he is to leave the company for
Halo publisher and license owner Microsoft.
Speaking on the company’s website,
O’Connor explained: I am leaving you. I am off to work more closely with Microsoft on the
Halo franchise, so I shan’t be too far away, but I wanted to take this last chance, appropriately enough in a Weekly Update, to tell you a very fond thanks.”
O’Connor makes reference to recently working on the story for a new project at Bungie, rumored to be unconnected with the
Halo franchise, but gives little indication of his exact role at Microsoft.
Following Bungie’s surprise
reversion to an independent developer in October of last year, the exact relationship between the two companies, particularly in terms of the
Halo franchise, has become less clear.
The next two
Halo projects are both known to have more limited input from Bungie, with Ensemble Studio’s real-time strategy game
Halo Wars and a still secretive product from movie director Peter Jackson.
