BreakAway Hires David Curtin as VP of Development

BreakAway Ltd., developer of serious games for modeling, training and simulation, has announced the expansion of its core management team with the addition of former Microsoft Games studio manager Dave Curtin.
Serious games studio BreakAway, developer of titles like the previously covered Pulse!!, well as FreeDive and the formerly featured A Force More Powerful, has announced that Dave Curtin, former studio manager at Microsoft Games, has joined the company as its vice president of development. The developer says that Curtin, who oversaw the release of Xbox titles Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding, Top Spin Tennis and Links 2004 during his time at Microsoft will head product development at BreakAway’s Hunt Valley, MD headquarters, as well as at its Corpus Christi, TX studios. BreakAway says the addition of Curtin is part of an expansion to its core management team, to allow it to take advantage of growth opportunities in the modeling and simulation market. Said Curtin, “BreakAway is working on exciting projects for the leading publisher in the entertainment industry and has set the standard in serious games by creating a suite of desktop development tools that allows the military, medical, homeland security, and first responder communities to rapidly create simulated environments for testing, training and strategic planning." BreakAway's client list includes Electronic Arts, Microsoft, the Department of Defense, FDIC and the National Institute for Justice.
