Brathwaite, Lemarchand, Romero On Board At Culver City's IndieCade

Video game industry notables including Brenda Brathwaite, Richard Lemarchand and John Romero are participating in October's IndieCade, a celebration of indie games open to the public.
Video game industry notables will be taking part in IndieCade, taking place October 7-10 in downtown Culver City, CA, organizers said Monday. Participating in the indie gaming event are industry stalwarts including IndieCade keynote speaker and Wizardry designer Brenda Brathwaite, IndieCade co-chair and Naughty Dog lead designer Richard Lemarchand and fellow co-chair John Sharp from Savannah College of Art and Design. IndieCade is in part a networking event where like-minded creators can get together and exchange ideas whether they are in game development, the arts community or part of the general public. Tickets are $95. John Romero, best known for his work as a designer on Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake, will be interviewed at the event as part of his game designer-focused interviews project dubbed "Romero Archives." Brathwaite's keynote will focus on her upcoming non-video game One Falls for Each of Us, a commentary on tragedy that is inspired by the Trail of Tears, the westward march of Native Americans that left thousands dead. Other indie faces expected to participate include Anna Anthropy, Dan Pinchbeck, Andy Nealen, Eddy Boxerman and Eric Zimmerman. During IndieCade, each day will include a morning of talks, panels and salons; afternoons made up of gallery visits, gameplay and networking; and evenings of to-be-announced events. The week will wrap up with a audience choice awards party on Sunday, October 10.
