Officials from Big Fish Games, a website portal for casual games, announced that the company has signed a four-year publishing agreement with casual game developer Last Day of Work (
Virtual Villagers) that includes all games developed by the San Francisco-based studio.
The new agreement is an extension of previous collaborative efforts between the two companies, which has seen the development of multiple casual titles such as
Virtual Villagers and
Fish Tycoon. As part of the new agreement, Big Fish Games will continue to provide complete development, marketing and publishing support for new games developed by Last Day of Work.
Industry tracking service Game-sales-charts.com monitors the top ten lists of the 23 highest volume casual game distribution portals online. Their aggregate statistics for all of 2006 shows that Last Day of Work had two of the industry's top ten games with the aforementioned titles, making the deal especially notable.
Big Fish Studios vice president Patrick Wylie added: “Last Day of Work is one of the most creative independent developers in casual games. We’re extremely proud to partner with them and represent their work. Our relationship with Last Day of Work will allow us to bring new and exciting titles to our existing customers as well as introduce more players around the world to casual games.”
