[Every week, Gamasutra highlights a week's worth of alternative video gaming news, media, and other curiosities from sister blog GameSetWatch, as written by editor Eric Caoili.] This round-up brings news on the SexBox, an Adults Only console; Nintendo initially rejecting Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell's request to become a licensed DS developer; and Majesco ressurecting Bad Dudes and other arcade classics from Data East in a new Wii collection. You'll also want to read about a previously unrevealed but cancelled Simpsons title inspired by The Sims, and Intuition Games's (Fig. 8, Effing Hail) episodic, retro platformer Liferaft. This past week's top stories: - Homer Spared In Cancelled Simp-sims Game "[Developer Josh Bridge recalled a] Sims-inspired version of the Simpsons, which focused on the cartoon family's witless but lovable father Homer. According to the developer, players took on the role of omnipotent being 'Jeebus', nudging Homer to do their bidding." - Fig. 8 Devs Look To Kickstarter Funding For Episodic Platformer "After its success with finding a generous sponsor for its last release Fig. 8, Iowa-based indie developer Intuition Games is trying out donation-ware platform Kickstarter for its next project, an episodic platformer titled Liferaft." - The Ruler's Back: DP Returns For Don't Copy That Floppy Sequel "The fierce lyricist kept out of the spotlight since that 1992 diamond hit, but DP has returned seventeen years later with the Software & Information Industry Association to release 'Don't Copy That 2', a sequel that calls attention to software piracy in the digital age." - Rush Rush Rally Racing Announced For Dreamcast "Taking advantage of all the attention paid to the Dreamcast's 10th anniversary today, homebrew developer Senile Team (Beats of Rage) formally announced Rush Rush Rally Racing, a Super Off Road-style, top-down 2D racing game that promises 'no sponsored cars, no realistic environments -- just plain old fun!'" - SexBox: Adults Only Console Proposed "San Jose-based Silicon Xtal Corporation, an integrated circuit and passive component manufacturer, appears to be working on a console specializing in Adults Only-rated games and mature content." - Nintendo Initially Rejected Scribblenauts Developers "As innovative as the [the developer's first DS game concept Drawn to Life] was, Nintendo initially rejected 5th Cell's request to become a licensed developer. ... The studio kept working on the title with a 'hacked' DS to build a demo, and sent a video of Drawn to Life to Nintendo nine months later, this time convincing the platform holder. " - Rockin' Android Wants To Bring Doujin Games To Consoles "Publisher Rockin' Android has already made an impression amongst "doujin' fans for packing its summer/fall release schedule with four shooters (Qualia and Suguri Perfect Edition already out, two more on the way), but the company doesn't plan to limit its scope to simply localizing Japanese PC titles." - Majesco Bringing Bad Dudes, Data East Arcade Classics To Wii "A new ESRB listing found earlier today reveals that Majesco is planning to release a collection of Data East's arcade games to Wii, all of which have yet to release on the system's Virtual Console Arcade service in any territory."
