Ban on Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 3 Upheld In Australia

The Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC), which rates films and video games in that country, upheld a ban on Take-Two's Grand Theft Auto 3 for the PS2 due to violence in the game.
Take-Two said it will modify the game to address the OFLC's concerns, and will have the new version ready for the Australian market in January. The company didn't indicate how the game would be modified to meet the OFLC rules. "We are working closely with [the OFLC] on these changes and anticipate a revised version of [GTA3] to be available for Australian gaming fans in January 2002," said Take-Two spokeswoman Dawn Berrie.
