BakBone Software recently announced that it will be providing storage management software for Square Company's new global PlayOnline service. PlayOnline is scheduled to debut shortly after the first of the year. It is an Internet-based service, offering subscribers worldwide online gaming, shopping, movie, and entertainment information.
BakBone's software, NetVault, features the ability to quickly manage intensive backup, restore and archiving functions across a wide range of computer platforms. NetVault offers a scalable, advanced modular architecture that will operate across distributed heterogeneous client/server and multi-user environments. BakBone says NetVault is specifically designed for the next generation of network storage applications, such as storage area networks (SANs), as well as today's requirements.
The forthcoming version of NetVault, scheduled for release next month, supports network-attached storage, and is compatible with Windows 2000. The current version already runs across multiple platforms, including most flavors of UNIX, Linux and Windows NT.
NetVault is available through a worldwide network of storage-centric channel partners, carefully selected for their knowledge of the marketplace, and solution-based efforts on behalf of their customers.
