Infinium CEO and former Microsoft executive Kevin Bachus has resigned as President, CEO, and acting CFO of the Phantom console-developing firm, in the latest blow to the apparently struggling firm. According to an official SEC filing made by Infinium, on November 17, "Mr. Bachus, who has been an officer of the Company since January 2004 and has served in his current roles since August 15, 2005, resigned to pursue other opportunities." Bachus, who is notable as one of the four original pioneers of Microsoft’s Xbox console, when he was group product manager for the company’s DirectX technologies, was appointed CEO at Infinium in August, succeeding former CEO Timothy Roberts, who continues to serve on the board of directors. Though Bachus announced in September that Infinium had closed the original Sarasota, FL offices in favor of consolidating the entire company to its new Seattle headquarters, and withdrawn an SB-2 Registration application for raising capital through shares, with Bachus suggesting: "We're tightening the ship and doing the things that I think will help us focus on commercializing our Phantom Game Service", it appears that he was not personally able to bring his plans to fruition. The Board of Directors of Infinium Labs have announced that Greg Koler, a former director of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Infinium's European consultant, has been appointed as interim CEO, CFO, President and as a director of Infinium Labs. Koler commentd: "I'd like to thank Kevin for his past support and wish him well with his future endeavors. A lot of that support has helped put our operational planning on track and has helped create awareness for the company in the industry." The Phantom 'console' itself runs Windows XP Embedded on a AMD® Athlon XP 2500+, with an Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 Ultra GPU, 256 MB RAM, and a 40 GB 'local content cache', and requires a broadband connection to stream game data with. A release date for the device, which has previously suffered significant delays, is yet to be confirmed.
