UK developer ATD (Attention to Detail) went into liquidation last Thursday, it has been revealed. While most of the country’s attention was directed at the ECTS trade show approximately 50 staff was laid off after a failure to sign the developer’s Ion Runner
title. ATD have been in existence since 1987 and have developed a wide range of high-profile titles including Night Shift
for LucasArts and Cybermorph
for the Atari Jaguar.
The liquidation is also linked to broader financial trouble within parent company Kaboom Studios, which is fronted by 80s stalwart, and founder of U.S. Gold, Geoff Brown. Additional staff cuts are expected at the company’s Silicon Dreams studio, but Pivotal Dreams – developers of Conflict: Desert Storm
– is thought to be relatively safe due to their greater financial independence.
