Atari's added a new CFO in financial management veteran Philip Veneziano, the company announced today. He'll handle finance, accounting, IT, and other administrative functions, and will report to CEO and president Jim Wilson.
"I am pleased to bring Philip to our executive leadership team at a pivotal time in Atari, Inc.’s strategic growth plan," said Wilson.
Veneziano indeed joins Atari at a financial crossroads. The publisher's most recent fiscal quarter saw over $319 million in losses, and the company has given itself the challenge of returning to profitability
in the second half of its fiscal year.
"[Veneziano's] deep experience working with both blue-chip and emerging companies will benefit our organization as we continue to build Atari, Inc.’s future roadmap,” said Wilson.
The new CFO was most recently finance VP for career services management firm TheLadders, and has held roles with News Corporation, Everest Broadband Networks, Juno Online Services, American Sky Broadcasting and Lifetime Hoan Corporation.
Commented Veneziano: "I look forward to working with the Atari team as it continues to take advantage of its growth opportunity in North America. This company, which is recognized internationally as a leader in entertainment software, presents a tremendous opportunity to gain market share."
