German developer Ascaron says it's still working on its expansion for PC RPG
Sacred 2, following Kalypso Media's
recent acquisition of a majority of Ascaron's assets, plus 15 of its staffers.
"Studio 2 (subsidiary company of Ascaron) has the license for
Sacred 2 and the devs will continue working at the [add-on] as they did before," writes community manager Anca Adelina Finta
on the game's forums, indicating that the update is unaffected by the acquisition and will roll out "as planned."
"Kalypso and the other devs will do something different with the old licenses they bought," continues the brief statement. "I really wish them good luck with that, they deserve it."
Ascaron
entered administration in April of this year, and Kalypso's acquisition birthed a new studio, Gaming Minds, to be based in Gutersloh and led by CEO Daniel Dumont and lead designer Kay Struve.
Among the titles acquired from Ascaron are
Port Royale, Darkstar One, On the Ball and
The Patrician. The latter series will see its third installment release this summer, the company says.
