On Monday, September 18 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, The Art Institute of Vancouver will be holding its summer Graduate Showcase "Art is Life," featuring graduate work from the Animation Art & Design, Digital Film & Video, Game Art & Design, Professional Recording Arts, Visual & Game Programming, and Visual Effects programs at the 3054 Beta Avenue Burnaby location. The Graduate Showcase is a recruiting and networking event. Between 4:00pm-6:00pm admittance is limited to industry representatives, allowing graduates a chance to speak directly with potential employers. At 6:00pm the doors open for families and the general public. Among the employers who have hired past graduates of The Art Institute of Vancouver are Hipposonic Studios, Airwaves Sound Mainframe Entertainment, NerdCorps Entertainment, Bardel Entertainment, Electronic Arts, Radical Entertainment, Piranha Games, Threewave – Gnosis Games, Artifex Studios, Frantic, ZOIC and Global Television. “The theme of September’s upcoming Graduate Showcase, Art is Life, highlights the school's mission of preparing graduates for a lifetime of creative contributions to their field,” explains Anita Seaton, Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Career Services. “It’s an opportunity for graduates, who are preparing to enter the job market, to display their skills to potential employers. It is also a chance for employers to experience firsthand what the next generation of talent is bringing to the industry.” There is no cost and those interested in attending are asked to RSVP with Stephen Hummel, Career Services Advisor.
