FBI officials have announced that arrests have been made in the theft last year of source code for Valve’s Half-Life 2. Details of the arrests, which were made in several countries, could not be made public because they are part of an ongoing investigation. Although representatives from Valve indicated that the thieves had been tracked down largely as a result of help from the online fan community, the theft of the code has had a noticeably negative effect on the company’s reputation with many fans believing that the developer had begun to use the theft as an excuse for the game’s continued delay. Although doubts that the theft actually even occurred at all will now have been laid to rest. Source: Reuters
