Officials from AOL have announced that the company will launch a new service allowing video games players to enter tournaments online. The free service is being delivered in partnership with Case’s Ladder, a division of eUniverse, and will initially only be for PlayStation 2 titles, with GameCube support planned for 2004. AOL members will essentially be receing a $19.95 yearly Case’s Ladder “Gold” membership for free, with the option to upgrade to the $9.95 a month Platinum service or $19.95 a month “Diamond” membership. The company has said it will expand the service next year by allowing subscribers to form leagues and manage tournaments.
