Anark Corporation has announced a new version of Gameface, its artist-oriented UI development utility, adding over 20 new workflow and performance improvement features including real time previewing on consoles and further integration with various game engines. Some of the newly-released features include complete "out of the box" integration with Emergent's Gamebryo engine, and integration with other engines adding an opt-in scene graph, sample code, UI runtime engine and detailed documentation. The latest edition of Gameface also promises "out of the box" previews on the target platform, including a multiplatform viewer that provides real-time previewing on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Anark also says runtime speed may improve up to 5x, with memory management improving up to 10x, to minimize scene refresh rates. Additional features include a COLLADA graphics pipeline that enables artists to import 3D models, materials, textures and animations from 3Ds Max and Maya, and component-based workflow that allows large teams of UI artists and designers to work in parallel on any part of the UI project. "The optimizations and workflow enhancements in Gameface 4.0 are the direct result of feedback and collaboration with key customers and industry partners," stated Justin Ebert, senior VP of product development.
