Tapulous’
Tap Tap Revenge was the most successful iPhone application in the U.S. during February, with 32 percent of consumers installing the game.
The download is one of five game applications in the top ten App Store list estimated by analyst firm comScore, followed by
Touch Hockey: FS5 at number three,
Pac-Man at number five (just behind Facebook at number four),
iBowl at number six, and
Labyrinth at number nine.
Although the only data provided was the percentage of users installing the various applications, website VentureBeat has estimated that
Tap Tap Revenge’s 32 percent penetration could
translate to around 4.8 million users, where the total installed U.S. userbase for the iPhone is estimated at 15 million.
Games industry interest in the iPhone and iTouch format has continued to grow in recent months. Neil Young, co-founder of iPhone developer ngmoco, even claimed in his
keynote speech at GDC that the platform is "better than the DS, better than the PSP."
