Altec Lansing Technologies will showcase four new products at Retailvision Spring '99 in San Francisco this month, including a new sound system maximized for DVD audio and a computer speaker designed for PC game players. The products are the ACS54, ADA880, ACS33, and ACS22, featuring technologies such as Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital. Altec Lansing designed the ACS54 Powerplay Plus especially to meet the sound demands of popular 3D positional audio games and soundcards. The system provides five-channel surround sound playback, intended to take full advantage of many PC game audio offerings. The five-piece system boasts a total of 40 watts including a 20-watt wood-enclosed subwoofer. Altec Lansing hopes this system will allow consumers to experience discrete surround sound, truly transforming the game playing experience. The ACS54 is expected to retail for $99.95. The ADA880 is a three-piece/five-piece audio system targeting game and DVD enthusiasts. Incorporating the company's patented side-firing speaker design, the ADA880 packs 80 watts of audio power, and includes a remote control. Altec Lansing says this versatile system is the first of its kind, and plans to bundle it with OEM computer systems. The ADA880 will sell for $329.95.
