A photocopied image purporting to be the technical specifications for the Nintendo DS (or “Nitro” as it now seems to be code-named) has surfaced on the Internet. The document is entirely in Japanese and while confirming some of the processor and memory details previously revealed it also suggests features such as a touch screen and 802.11 wireless LAN technology.
Perhaps most surprisingly the document alleges a 3D graphics system capable of drawing 120,000 polygons per second, with a fill-rate of 30 million pixels per second. Although much less powerful than Sony’s more expensive PSP device, this gives the system 3D rendering power roughly equivalent to the Nintendo 64.
