A new animation tool from BioGraphic Technologies, AI.implant for Maya, has been released which lets animators more easily create scenes that involve complex interactions, like flocking and large-scales battles.
According to the company, the product was designed with the non-technical 3D animator in mind. It features an AI designer, AI solver, game logic solver, action selector, auto-animator and crowd propagation tools. Together, they help characters interact and animate themselves believably with other AI-controlled characters, as well as hand-animated characters, Maya Dynamics elements, and other elements in the animated world.
Using the tool, artists can create their own AI character attributes like hunger or morale. Combined with 73 modifiable behavior settings, AI characters can engage in extensive individual and group decision-making. The product's real-time AI Think Cycle, AI Solver and Game Logic Solver help AI characters act intelligently and animate themselves by selecting, scaling and blending their own Trax animations.
No pricing details were given, and the company has indicated that versions for 3ds max and Lightwave are under development.
